State witnessing police-mafia nexus: Mani

Alleging that the state was witnessing police-mafia nexus, Kerala Congress (M) leader K M Mani M L A said the recurring temple theft incidents were clear evidences of general “break down” of law and order situation in the state.

Police miserably failed to arrest the culprits involved in the temple theft cases reported in the last few months, he told reporters here. Mani requested the government to strengthen the police squad in temples and nab the culprits.

The Kerala Anti-social (Prevention) Act brought in by the previous UDF government had the clause to arrest anti-social elements to arrest, he said, and alleged that the clause was amended by the LDF government and as a result “the state has become a den of goondas.” KC(M) chairman C F Thomas MLA said the party would organise people’s meet in all Assembly segments on October two to mobilise popular sentiments against the LDF government.
