My film `Rama Ravanan’ is against terrorism and not against anyone.” director Biju Vattapaara said in a press meet at Kochi. He was reacting to the statement of Tamil film director Seeman against Malayalam film ‘Rama Ravanan’ alleging that it hurts the feeling of Tamilians. ‘Rama Ravanan’ is a film based on the story `Manomi’ written by the late litterateur Kamala Suraiya. After the preview of the film at Chennai Good Luck theatre on Wednesday, the followers of Seeman tried to attack director Biju Vattappara. Actor Suresh Gopi somehow rescued him from them.
The story revolves around a Sreelankan girl Manomi, who falls in love with a Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) extremist Thiruchelvam. During their conversation Manomi says that she is daughter of Sree Buddha and she loves to live in peace. This reference has provoked Seeman and his group. Suresh Gopi dons the role of Thiruchelvam. Mithra Kurien is the heroine. The film is scheduled to release on June 18.
Seeman’s group attacked actor Jayaram’s residence at Chennai some time back for a reference in a TV talk show about Tamil women.
